We also engage in a number of charitable activities in Shropshire via the Shropshire Gas Charity Initiative. This has raised and donated many vital funds for community organisations and associations over the last 24 years, with the aim of changing the lives of young people through direct charitable donations plus additional support in covering the initiative's administration expenses.
24 years. The company directors want to change the lives of young people through direct charitable donations. We also cover the management expenses, administration and stationery. The price of everything is negotiated, so if it can be obtained for a lower cost or even free, it will be, so that every pound raised goes towards making lives better.
Caring for Children
Our primary aim is to improve the facilities for children and young people, especially in sports and education. Our second aim is continued financial support for the NSPCC’s “Full Stop” campaign, which helps to stop child abuse and cruelty. Finally we hope to be able to expand our charitable initiatives so that more children and young people may benefit from them.
We’ve donated thousands of pounds to local good causes since our inaugural meeting. Meetings are held regularly throughout the year and chaired by the founder of the initiative, Malcolm Carter, as part of his hands-on approach.
All applications to receive charitable funds a considered, no matter how large or small. The key factor is how the money will benefit children and young people within the community and donations are distributed among the successful applicants based on this. We’d like you to spread word and encourage more local groups to make requests, so that we can help as many children as possible.
Those who've benefitted include:
- Market Drayton Town Football Club
- Market Drayton Tigers Football Club
- Festival Centre Market Drayton
- Hope House Children’s Hospice
- Severn Hospice
- The Donna Louise Trust
- The Grove School, Market Drayton
- And many more local groups
