Shropshire Gas and Severnside Housing Partnership to reach 18 Years of success
A fourteen year relationship between Shropshire Gas and Severnside Housing Shrewsbury has become an exemplar role model for the benefits of partnership working in social housing. Following over fourteen years of contracts on the Severnside Housing Stock a five year Partnership arrangement has been agreed.
As a framework partner Shropshire Gas will continue to provide maintenance and improvements helping achieve the Decent Homes Standard to over 4000 properties in the Shrewsbury area where boiler maintenance and upgrades utilising boiler manufactures such as Worcester Bosch and Glow Worm, Baxi and Vaillant have been undertaken over the years.
Throughout the partnership, the Shropshire Gas commitment to social housing regeneration and raising the quality of living for local Shropshire people has achieved numerous successes. Severnside Housing and Shropshire Gas have achieved ‘Diversity Accreditation’, establishing we not only have the right policies in place but have staff dedicated to ensuring gas and multi-fuel heating services are accessible to all their Social Housing customers. Shropshire Gas worked with Severnside through an innovative heating installation scheme which replaced many inefficient solid fuel, gas and oil heating systems with effective modern alternatives.
Shropshire Gas Director Malcolm Carter said, “This will take our working relationship with Severnside on Shrewsbury social housing to an enviable record of over eighteen consecutive years which is one of the longest on record in the entire country. The partnership helping deliver services to achieve Decent Homes Standard in Shropshire has really made a difference to customers and the number of Decent Homes has been substantially increased. The Shropshire Gas Multi-Fuel team has been instrumental in helping make a difference”. Adding “Our team focuses on working closely with Severnside Housing staff and their customers to ensure that all works are completed to a high standard. This has been evident in our excellent customer satisfaction scores. Key performance indicators consistently score over 99% from tenants after work has been completed.”
In addition to improved housing provision, partnership working has also contributed to the community by creating training opportunities for local Shrewsbury people. Shropshire Gas has also supported Severnside Housing corporate responsibility initiatives such as diversity training and to improve services helping provide a safe working environment in customer’s homes. Shropshire Gas and Severnside participate in ‘meet the customer’ events where householders can learn more about the provision of essential heating services.
Malcolm Carter of Shropshire Gas Market Drayton said, “Over the last fourteen years, Shropshire Gas’s presence in Shrewsbury and across Shropshire has provided social and economic support to the area. Over 95% of our workforce comes from the local area and we regularly invite local young people to undertake work placements with us through our strong relationship with Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology. We strive to deliver a customer focused service and have achieved outstanding customer satisfaction levels. Severnside Housing customers rate our service on average over 99% overall. Canvassed and compiled by Sevenside Housing and independently audited by the Government Audit Commission, this score is recognised nationally by the Government Audit Commission as one of the very highest heating contractor KPI scores in the country, a remarkable achievement by the Shropshire Gas team”.
